I have once heard it said "monkey see, monkey do." Well, just think, a 2 year old child running around the house yelling "you're stupid!" Over and over again. That child obviously heard that word somewhere and learned those actions somewhere. Child see, child do. It's the same for us "Jesus Freaks" striving for perfection. We want to show the world that hey! we aren't perfection, but we don't want to show the world that "Hey! since I've got the grace of God, and God will forgive me anyways I'm going to do what I want" That aint how it works. God is a just god and will put judgment where it is due just like a court house judge. Check this out,
Matthew 12:33 "Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit.
Matthew 12:35 "The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil.
Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. Matthew 7:17
Also, in the same aspect, growing up in a Christian home is ideal. Child sees drinking from parents child is more likely to drink like the parents when he/she gets older. Child hears the "F" word flien out of their parent's mouths then he/she going to let it fly too. We are to fallow Christ, if the child sees their parents fallowing, they will fallow also. Being a good parent is all about raising children who will follow your example in obeying and worshiping the Lord. Proverbs 22:6
We aint even got to be parents to disciple kids, we disciple everywhere we go. We influence others in some way shape or form, good or bad. I pray your influence is positive and leading someone to Christ, because if you're not leading someone to Christ, you're leading them to satan. Now, understand it is not possible to "ride the fence post" for we are a good influence or bad, not neutral. We are either saved or not saved, not neutral. If we are not truly saved, we are not going to enter into the kingdom of heaven.
To be truly saved:
1. Admit you're a screw up, that you're a sinner
2. Confess Christ is the only way to heaven
3. Believe it!
3. Live it!
So my questions to you are, Are you truly saved, and who are you discipling?
